Our Story

Deen Squad is a dynamic Muslim Hip-hop duo that consists of two talented musicians, Karter Zaher and Jae Deen. Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, they embarked on a remarkable journey together, sharing their passion for music and faith with the world. Their initial encounters took place in 2014 at Carleton University, where they formed the Deen Squad duo and became pioneers of Halal Hip-hop.

Karter Zaher, hailing from a Middle Eastern background, and Jae Deen, with African roots, united their diverse cultural influences and musical talents to create what some labelled “too controversial". From God’s plan to Allah’s plan, Havana to Madina, Classic man to Muslim man, and Starboy to Halal boy, they captured the attention of audiences globally by integrating Islamic cadences into Mainstream pop music. Despite the backlash and religious criticism they faced from conservative communities, a hardcore "Till We Meet God " fanbase defended their message.

Nevertheless, Karter and Jae, driven by brotherhood and determination, managed to mend their relationship and reclaim ownership of Deen Squad.  As of 2023, Karter Zaher and Jae Deen are back and focused on rebuilding their musical legacy.

Deen Squad's story is one of triumph over adversity, a testament to the power of faith, friendship, and perseverance. Through their music, Karter Zaher and Jae Deen have not only left an indelible mark on the music industry, but have also paved the way for a new wave of Muslim artists, encouraging them to embrace their identity and make their voices heard.
